. right now we will start with the race for the white house. rita williams is in boston but we begin with ken prichard in chicago with the obama campaign. ken. >> reporter: just within the past half hour some of the thousands of president obama supporters have been allowed in this large event venu. many received tickets because they are chicago residents and live in this area and who agreed to travel and hit the road and go to the neighboring battleground states of wisconsin and campaign for the president there in the last few days. the president wants to thank them. there are many states that are intense. pennsylvania, the romney campaign is focused on that the obama campaign is not truly a contest. a short time ago, we talked to democratic national committee communications director brad woodhouse and he says the final campaign day stop by romney is something that he doesn't blame romney for trying but pennsylvania is not a state where romney has a fighting chance. >> well, i don't think so. david axelrod put it best, pennsylvania is a prayer, not a plan for the romney campaign. it

solving the problem, but it gets to the specifics. i was in city hall in boston 44 years ago complaining about people who wanted a swimming pool in a neighborhood and they complaining because the dump trucks were coming in and out digging out the swimming pool and it was bothering them, and i complained to an old security council. he said, hey, kid, ain't you heard the muse? everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die. i think that's what i get from too many of constituents. they want us to cut the deficit, but don't raise my taxes and don't cut this and don't cut that and expand this and expand that. we do our best, and i'm not troubled by our inability to do what some of the them want us to do, which is impossible. >> i'm a little troubled sometimes by the thoughtlessness of some people who are quick to criticize anybody without differentiating between those who trying to do their best, but elts hard to argue with american people generally when they look to washington and see the mess that we're in right now. it is also true, as everyone here has said, that so

, philadelphia. boston now seeing the snow. one of the hardest-hit areas from sandy was long island, staten island and then down the jersey shore, they are getting hit again by not just the strong winds, but heavy snow on top of what they've seen from sandy. here's more on that story. >> reporter: hey, doug. this is something that we've ever seen before. none of us at the weather channel can remember a snowfall nine days after a hurricane hits an area. that's what's happening here in point pleasant, new jersey. one of the beaches ravaged by sandy a week ago monday. what i'm walking up here is not a big pile of snow that you would see in the winter. this is sand. now, this is a temporary dune they've built since yesterday. they took all the sand that sandy took inland, six, seven blocks inland and they trucked it out here. it left about three to four feet of sand left on ocean avenue. so they trucked out the sand and started building the dune yesterday ahead of this nor'easter. some areas in krtconnecticut ha had six to eight inches of snow. the weekend looks sunny and warmer for the over 20
